We have had a more than wonderful trip with Bhaskar as our driver in Rajasthan. What more could we possibly want? He was a safe driver, he was caring, had a sense of humour, he was nice, he advised us well, he really did his best for us, his English was excellent. He has been more than just a driver bringing us from A to B. I can highly recommend him.
His advice on the travel route turned out to be perfect and the hotels he took us to were also first-class. They cost us generally between 22.50 and 30 Euros (indicate the price range you want). Always favourably located, with good restaurants and nice rooms. Sometimes he was given commission on a room, or he could spend the night for free (not always though: sometimes he had to pay for his own room in a drivers home), but we granted him everything. He took really good care of us and we had a lot of fun with him. He is honest and fair, the man is priceless.
On this trip we were fortunate to meet Rattan. He travelled together with a couple on more or less the same route in the same period as we did, so we have seen them regularly. Another priceless guy who really does his utmost for you. We have spent magnificent evenings with both drivers, and also with the other, very nice, couple. Furthermore, we thought Rajasthan was terrific, the weather in March delightful, the Indian people very friendly and we both have only been ill for a day.
Rob was a real good mediator, and what a luxury it is to know that while you are travelling you can always rely on Rattan and Rob if anything goes wrong. And on Bhaskar of course, but Rattan and Rob are the backing and support. In short: we lacked for nothing. The next time we go to India we will go with Rob and Bhaskar or Rattan again. By the way, we met two more drivers of their group. I think with these people and under Rattans and Robs supervision you are always in good hands anyway!
Was there anything not so good? Well, India is not very clean of course. That's why it was not too bad that we were only ill for one day. In any case, the restaurants at our hotels were always good, and the places where Bhaskar stopped on the way were safe to have a meal. The traffic was horrible, but Bhaskar is a good driver. Furthermore, we feared beforehand the persistent salesmen, guides and beggars, but if you turn them down in a friendly way everything is alright.
Another thing is that India offers an excellent lesson in letting go, which is fine in the hands of Rob, Rattan and Bhaskar.
